Capital One Savor Credit Card

Written by: Lenny Pappano
Capital One Savor Apply Now

This card is only marginally better than its lower-tier counterpart, and we don’t recommend it. Although it features a minimal sign-up bonus and no annual fee, it doesn’t offer many benefits beyond that.

Capital One Savor Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

The Capital One Savor card is a slight upgrade from the VentureOne Rewards card, but we still don’t recommend ever applying for it. The sign-up bonus is just $200 (or 20,000 miles). Although you can earn 3% cash back on grocery store and dining purchases and there is no annual fee, the card doesn’t offer many benefits beyond its modest sign-up bonus.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

Using a 5/24 spot on the Capital One Savor card might not be wise if you plan on collecting points and miles for a while. Yes, you do get $200 back after you sign up and spend $500 in the first three months. You’ll also earn 3% cash back on groceries and dining. However, there are many cards with more valuable offers. Even though this card has no annual fee, there are other no-fee cards (from both Capital One and other banks) that have better offers. If you want a Capital One card, the Venture Rewards or Venture X are significantly better — even though they both have annual fees.

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

This card doesn’t offer nearly as much as other cards, including other Capital One cards with annual fees and no-fee cards from other banks.

How The Capital One Savor Credit Card Fits In The Cash in Cents Ecosystem

Both the Capital One Savor and VentureOne cards are introductory options from Capital One. Neither card has an annual fee, but both offer very small 20,000-point/$200 cash back sign-up bonuses and no extra benefits besides modest points multipliers. By contrast, the Capital One Venture Rewards and Venture X cards have annual fees — $95 and $395 respectively — but each offers a 75,000-mile sign-up bonus as well as perks and benefits that can make the fee worthwhile. If you’re going to choose a Capital One card, don’t waste a 5/24 spot on the Savor or VentureOne. Instead, learn more about the two Venture cards and decide which one suits your needs best.
