- JetBlue Plus Card Increased offer - 75,000 Points after spending only $1000 in 3 months, $99 annual fee.
- Aeroplan Mastercard - Earn 75,000 Points after spending $4000 in 3 months + 25,000 after spending $20,000 in 12 months, $95 annual fee.
If you’re an Air Canada loyalist, the Chase Aeroplan Credit Card offers great perks that justify its $95 annual fee. By timing your application strategically, you could secure nearly two years of complimentary 25k Aeroplan Status, which provides valuable benefits for frequent Air Canada flyers. Even if you don’t often fly on Air Canada–operated flights, you can still benefit from this card and its 60,000-mile sign-up bonus, as Aeroplan points transfer to around 45 different airlines — making them extremely flexible.
In addition to its strong sign-up bonus, the Chase Aeroplan Card is attractive because you can redeem miles with up to 45 different airlines. Currently, you can earn 60,000 miles after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first three months, plus another 10,000 miles after your annual fee renewal payment posts and is paid in full. If you continue to spend on the card beyond earning the sign-up bonus, you’ll benefit from generous spending multipliers—such as 3x points at grocery stores, restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services), and on purchases made directly with Air Canada. You’ll also receive 500 bonus points for every $2,000 spent in a calendar month (up to 1,500 points per month).
Beyond these earning opportunities, the Chase Aeroplan Card offers numerous travel perks, particularly for those who fly Air Canada at least a few times per year. Cardmembers (and up to eight travel companions on the same reservation) get a free first checked bag when travel begins on an Air Canada flight. New cardmembers also receive complimentary Aeroplan 25k Status for the rest of the current year plus the following year. If you apply early in the year, that can add up to nearly two full years of status. Although 25k is Aeroplan’s lowest status tier, it still comes with perks like priority check-in, two free checked bags, two Maple Leaf Lounge passes, priority boarding, priority reservation waitlisting, 20 eUpgrade credits, and complimentary preferred seats. You can also redeem points instead of paying cash for seats and gain access to preferred pricing on flight rewards.
If you don’t have Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS, the card provides a $120 credit every four years for enrolling in one of these programs.
Here are a few scenarios where this card might not work for you:
If you live in the United States, Air Canada is a complicated alternative to United Airlines.
The Chase Aeroplan Card is the only co-branded Air Canada credit card available to U.S. residents. If you live in Canada, there are several different Air Canada–affiliated cards you can explore.
If you don’t want a co-branded card, keep in mind that points from American Express, Capital One, Chase, Bilt, and Marriott Bonvoy can all be transferred to Aeroplan. Most of these programs offer a 1:1 transfer ratio (Marriott transfers at 3:1). This means you can still take advantage of Air Canada flights if you have points from any of these other cards.
