Chase Sapphire Reserve Business Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Business carries a $795 annual fee, one of the highest on the market and the same as the Sapphire Reserve personal card. The 150,000 (current special 200,000)-point bonus after spending $20,000 (currently $30,000) in six months and $300 annual travel credit can offset the fee in year one. Long-term value depends on how many of the credits you’ll use organically and how much you value 1:1 Hyatt transfers.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

Outside of the 150,000 (current special 200,000) mile welcome offer, the biggest perk is the annual $300 travel credit that gets automatically applied to any travel purchase you make. This does not have to be in the Chase portal, so it will cancel out $300 worth of travel purchases made throughout the year. That credit effectively brings the annual fee down to $495.

If you value Ulitmate Rewards points for World of Hyatt transfers, this is also one of only two Chase cards that transfers to Hyatt at 1:1, along with the Chase Sapphire Reserve personal card. Both the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Business Preferred also transfer to all Chase partners, but they transfer to Hyatt at reduced 4:3 ratio.

There are plenty of other credits offered by the card to more than make up the rest of the annual fee, provided you use them organically. Below are the credits the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business offers:

  • $300 annual travel credit (applied to any travel purchase)
    • Points Navigator Tip: Chase automatically applies the $300 travel credit before any other eligible travel credit. Plan your purchases accordingly if you want to maximize your The Edit credits.
  • Two $250 credits per year for prepaid bookings with The Edit (a two night minimum stay is required each time to receive the twice per year credit). These credits can be used any time throughout the year, and you have to have two separate bookings to receive the $250 credit both times (it won't work on a single, 4 night booking)
    • Points Navigator Tip: Two separate 2-night bookings at the same hotel can trigger both $250 credits. As long as you book the same room type, you won't have to change rooms between stays.
    • There are also extra benefits that come with The Edit bookings: Free breakfast (at select properties), $100 property credit, room upgrade (if available), and early check-in/late check-out (if available)
  • $250 credit on prepaid bookings for use at select Chase Travel hotels on stays of at least two nights. This credit is only good after January 1, 2026 and for use in 2026. This was announced as a special and doesn't appear to be an ongoing credit as of now.
  • Two $50 credits per year (one in January - June and one in July - December) on gift cards purchased on giftcards.com/reservebusiness
  • $200 in annual statement credits on purchases made directly on Google Workspace
  • Two $200 credits per year (one in January - June and one in July - December) on ZipRecruiter
  • Complimentary DashPass Membership (worth $120 annually), two $10 monthly credits on non-restaurant orders, and one $5 monthly credit on restaurant orders
  • One $10 credit on Lyft rides per month
  • $120 credit every 4 years for Global Entry/TSA PreCheck

Below are additional benefits, perks, and spending multipliers:

  • Full 1:1 transfers to all Chase partners, including Hyatt
  • Priority Pass Select Membership: This is good for the cardholder and two guests
  • Access to any Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club for the cardholder and two guests
  • A variety of purchase and travel protections, including primary auto rental coverage, roadside assistance, trip cancellation/interruption insurance, among others
  • 8x points on travel booked through the Chase portal, 5x on Lyft rides, 4x on flights and hotels, 3x on social media and search engine advertising, and 1x everywhere else

If you spend more than $120,000 on the card in a calendar year, you unlock the following benefits:

  • World of Hyatt Explorist Status
  • IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite Status
  • $500 credit for The Shops at Chase
  • $500 Southwest Airlines Chase Travel credit
  • Southwest Airlines A-List status

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

  • The coupon book style of credits is too much work
  • The type of credits don’t fit with your small business spending and won’t make up for the high annual fee
  • You already some of the perks like Global Entry and Priority Pass from other credit card benefits
Chase Ultimate Rewards

What to Know About Chase Ultimate Rewards

Chase Ultimate Rewards offers versatility, flexible redemption options, and a strong lineup of travel partners.

  • Transferring to Chase's airline and hotel partners is the option we most recommend to get the best value from your Ultimate Rewards points.
  • Hyatt, United, Southwest, and Air Canada are among Chase's most valuable transfer partners.
  • You can also book travel directly through Chase Travel, including flights, hotels, rental cars, cruises, and more.
  • If you have one of Chase's Sapphire Reserve cards, you can take advantage of Points Boost for better redemptions through the portal.
  • While Ultimate Rewards remain highly valuable, Chase now limits how often you can earn welcome bonuses on many of its most popular cards.

How The Chase Sapphire Reserve Business Credit Card Fits In The Chase Ultimate Rewards Ecosystem

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Business is Chase’s premium business card, competing with options like the American Express Platinum Business and Capital One Venture X Business. It’s designed for those who want a full suite of travel perks and are willing to pay a higher annual fee to get them. If Hyatt transfers are a major part of your Ultimate Rewards strategy, the Sapphire Reserve Business and Sapphire Reserve are now the only Chase cards that transfer to Hyatt at a full 1:1 ratio.

In addition to the Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred personal cards, Chase also offers several Ink business cards:

  • Chase Ink Business Preferred: The closest lower-fee business alternative, with a $95 annual fee and a 100,000-point welcome bonus after spending $8,000. This card also unlocks Chase transfer partners, but Hyatt transfers at a reduced 4:3 ratio. All other partners continue to transfer 1:1.
  • Chase Ink Business Premier: Unlike the other Ink cards, rewards cannot be transferred to Chase Ultimate Rewards partners or to another Chase card that unlocks transfers. Because of that limitation, we rarely recommend this card.
  • Chase Ink Business Cash: No annual fee card with strong category bonuses and a 75,000-point bonus on a lower spending requirement.
  • Chase Ink Business Unlimited: Also no annual fee, earning a flat rate on all purchases with a 75,000-point bonus and simple structure.

Points Navigator Tip: Under Chase's No Fee Ink Lifetime Rule, you can only earn the welcome bonus on either the Ink Cash or Ink Unlimited once per lifetime. We recommend waiting for an elevated offer before applying for either card.

You’ll also need an eligible Sapphire card or the Ink Business Preferred card to transfer Ultimate Rewards points earned from the Ink Cash or Ink Unlimited to Chase’s travel partners. The two Sapphire Reserve cards are the only cards that transfer to Hyatt at a full 1:1 ratio. The Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred transfer to Hyatt at 4:3, while all four cards transfer to every other Chase partner at 1:1.
