Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

As a no-annual-fee business card, the Ink Business Unlimited delivers excellent value. The 75,000 (current special 100,000) point signup bonus after spending $6,000 (currently $8,000) in the first 4 months is one of the best offers available on a no-fee business card. Because of the Chase Ink No Fee Lifetime Rule, it can make sense to wait for an elevated offer, since you can only earn the welcome offer on either this card or the Chase Ink Business Cash once between the two cards. The card also earns a flat 1.5x points on every purchase, making it an excellent “catch-all” card for non-bonused spending, especially when paired with a Chase card that unlocks transfer partners.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited is ideal for small business owners and freelancers who want simplicity and long-term value. It becomes especially powerful when paired with one of the Chase cards that unlocks transfers to airline and hotel partners, since that’s where you can get the highest value from Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

  • Earn 75,000 (current special 100,000) points after spending $6,000 (currently $8,000) in the first 3 months
  • Earn 1.5x points on every purchase with no caps or spending categories to track
  • Earn 5x points on Lyft rides
  • Receive built-in travel and purchase protections
  • Get 3 months of Instacart+ and up to $20 per month in Instacart credits

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

This card may not be ideal if:

  • You don't have a Chase card that allows transfers to travel partners
  • You prefer category multipliers for business spend, like the Ink Cash that offers 5x on office supplies and 2x on gas and dining

What to Know About Chase Ultimate Rewards

Chase Ultimate Rewards offers versatility, flexible redemption options, and a strong lineup of travel partners.

  • Transferring to Chase's airline and hotel partners is the option we most recommend to get the best value from your Ultimate Rewards points.
  • Hyatt, United, Southwest, and Air Canada are among Chase's most valuable transfer partners.
  • You can also book travel directly through Chase Travel, including flights, hotels, rental cars, cruises, and more.
  • If you have one of Chase's Sapphire Reserve cards, you can take advantage of Points Boost for better redemptions through the portal.
  • While Ultimate Rewards remain highly valuable, Chase now limits how often you can earn welcome bonuses on many of its most popular cards.

How The Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card Fits In The Chase Ultimate Rewards Ecosystem

The Ink Business Unlimited is one of two no-annual-fee Ink business cards. Because of Chase's bonus eligibility rules, you'll eventually have to choose between it and the Ink Business Cash. The right choice depends on your business spending patterns and your overall Chase Ultimate Rewards strategy.

  • Ink Unlimited vs. Ink Cash: The Ink Business Unlimited earns a flat 1.5x points on every purchase, making it an excellent catch-all card. The Ink Business Cash instead rewards spending in specific bonus categories.
    • Strategy: Under the Chase Ink No Fee Lifetime Rule, you can only earn the welcome bonus on one of these cards once per lifetime. Since both currently offer the same welcome offer, choose the card that best matches your long-term spending.
  • Unlocking transfer partners: Rewards earned on the Ink Business Unlimited can be moved to an eligible Chase card, where they become transferable Ultimate Rewards points.
  • 5/24 strategy: Like all Chase business cards, the Ink Business Unlimited does not add to your 5/24 count, making it an excellent way to continue earning Ultimate Rewards points without affecting future personal card approvals.

My Experience, No Filter

In our two-person household, my wife and I used our various side gigs to open multiple Ink Business Unlimited cards. We referred each other to earn 20,000-point referral bonuses, and we timed our applications during elevated 90,000-point offers. That meant 110,000 points per card, and we repeated the strategy across multiple businesses. For a no-annual-fee card, it’s one of the best plays in the game. The points stacked up fast, and they transferred perfectly to our Sapphire Reserve for 1.5x travel redemptions. Unfortunately new rules prevent utilizing the same strategy.
