  • Wyndham partners with five transferable points programs, including Wells Fargo at a favorable 1:2 transfer ratio.

How to Earn Points

There are several ways to earn Wyndham points. The easiest are by staying at Wyndham properties or opening one of their co-branded credit cards. Wyndham is also a transfer partner with Wells Fargo, Chase, Capital One, Bilt, and Citi, so points earned with those systems can be transferred for hotel stays, with Wells Fargo at a very favorable 1:2 transfer ratio.

Earn by Staying at Wyndham Properties

You earn points on any qualified stay at most Wyndham Hotels and Resorts.

  • Members earn 10 points per dollar spent, or 1000 points per stay, whichever is greater.
  • Exception: At WaterWalk Extended Stay, you earn 5 points per dollar in furnished suites and no points in other accommodation types.

There are also Status Bonuses if you hold status with Wyndham:

  • Gold: 10% bonus
  • Platinum: 15% bonus
  • Diamond: 20% bonus

Earn by Opening Co-branded Credit Cards

Outside of staying at Wyndham properties, you can also earn points with their four co-branded cards from Barclays. Wyndham has three personal cards and one business card. You can find details on which cards we recommend below.

Earn by Opening Cards that Transfer to Wyndham

Wyndham partners with five diferent transferable points systems: Wells Fargo, Capital One, Chase, Bilt, and Citi. You can transfer points from each system at the following ratios for top-ups and award bookings:

  • Wells Fargo Rewards transfer to Wyndham at a 1:2 ratio.
  • Citi transfer ratios depend on the card:
  • Chase, Bilt, and Capital One all transfer at 1:1

Annual Bonuses & Big Spend Bonuses

Wyndham Earner

  • Spend requirement: Earn 7,500 bonus points after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year.
  • Our recommendation: This spend requirement isn’t worth it. The Wyndham Earner Plus card gives you a 15,000-point anniversary bonus automatically each year for its $95 annual fee, while the $395-annual fee Wyndham Earner Premier card offers a 30,000-point anniversary bonus. Both are a far better deal than putting $15,000 of spend on this no-fee card.

Wyndham Earner Plus

  • Spend requirement: Earn 15,000 points after staying 5 or more paid nights in a calendar year.
  • Our recommendation: We wouldn't go out of our way to do this, but since you also earn 6x on Wyndham purchases with this card, it could be worthwhile to pay cash instead of points for 5 nights if you stay at Wyndham properties regularly, especially since there are quite a few low budget options.

Other Options to Earn

There are quite a few other ways to earn Wyndham points, but none are high-value methods. We rarely recommend spending extra time or effort on these, though some may be worth a quick look depending on your situation. See how you can earn more Wyndham Rewards here.

Breaking Points

How to Redeem Points

The most valuable way to redeem Wyndham Rewards points is for award stays at Wyndham properties.

Wyndham keeps things simple with three award tiers: 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night. Beginning September 15, 2026, Wyndham will add a fourth tier, with award nights priced at 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, or 45,000 points.

If you hold a Wyndham Earner credit card, you'll receive a discount on every award stay based on the card you own:

More than half of Wyndham's properties currently fall into the lowest award tier, including a handful of all-inclusive resorts. Combined with Wells Fargo's 1:2 transfer ratio, Wyndham offers some excellent opportunities for outsized redemption value. Keep in mind that property distribution across the award tiers will likely change after the new pricing tiers take effect in September 2026.

You can also stretch your points further by booking Go Fast awards, which let you combine points and cash for a single reservation.

Booking Tips

If you stay at a Wyndham property at least once per year, getting one of the four Wyndham credit cards is worth it. First, you can get anywhere from 10-25% off award bookings. You also earn anniversary points with the Earner Plus, Premier, and the Business card. All cards offer some type of complimentary status (Diamond with the Plus card the first year of owning the card, and with the Premier and Business card; Platinum with the Earner Plus after year one; Gold with the Earner)

Who is it best for?

Wyndham Rewards is best for travelers who stay at budget and mid-tier hotels, especially road trippers, families, and travelers who need reliable one-night stays. Wyndham's large footprint makes it easy to find properties in smaller cities, near highways, and in destinations where luxury hotel programs may have limited coverage.

The program is also more interesting than it used to be for points and miles users. Several transferable systems have added Wyndham to their partner list, and Wyndham's co-branded credit cards offer meaningful award discounts, anniversary points, and elite status. Wells Fargo is the top transfer partner since they transfer at a 1:2 ratio, creating a strong path to building a large Wyndham points balance.

The simple award structure is another major perk. Wyndham currently prices awards at 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night, though a fourth tier launches September 15, 2026. The biggest downside is that Wyndham still lacks the luxury footprint of programs like Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott.

Status Levels Explained

There are four levels of elite status with Wyndham Rewards. Blue is the entry tier you receive for signing up.

Benefits include:

  • Earn at least 1,000 points per stay
  • Access to free and discounted nights
  • Rollover nights that never expire
  • Free Wi-Fi

All higher tiers must be earned by completing a required number of qualifying nights or by opening one of Wyndham’s co-branded credit cards.

Here are the elite status levels for Wyndham Rewards, what it takes to reach each level, and the benefits and perks for each

  • Preferred room choice
  • Accelerated earning
  • Late checkout

What to Know Before Canceling

The three Wyndham cards with annual fees can all provide solid long-term value through anniversary points, elite status, and discounts on award stays, making them worth keeping for many Wyndham travelers. The Wyndham Earner Premier also keeps your Wyndham Rewards points from expiring. Otherwise, Wyndham points expire after 18 months of inactivity or four years after they are earned.
