The two most efficient ways to earn miles for Singapore Airlines flights are by flying on Singapore Airlines or its partners and by transferring points from major credit card programs. Singapore does not currently offer any co-branded credit cards in the U.S.
Earn by Flying Singapore Airlines
You earn miles based on the distance flown and the fare class you book. Here’s the earning structure:
- Economy
- Fare classes K, N, Q, V, G: 50%
- Fare classes H, M, W: 75%
- Fare classes B, E, Y: 100%
- Premium Economy
- Fare classes R, L, P: 100%
- Fare classes S, T: 125%
- Business Class
- Fare classes D, U: 125%
- Fare classes C, J, Z: 150%
- Suites & First Class
- Fare classes A, F: 200%
You can check expected mileage earnings for any flight using Singapore’s Miles Calculator.
Earn by Opening Transferable Points Cards
If you don’t regularly fly Singapore Airlines or its partners, the easiest way to earn miles is by transferring points from major credit card programs. Singapore partners with all the major systems, and transfers are made at a 1:1 ratio from:
These programs make it simple to top up your KrisFlyer balance or fully fund an award booking. You can also transfer points from several hotels (like Marriott Bonvoy, IHG, and others), but the transfer rates are not good, so we don’t recommend doing this.
Flying with Partners (alliance and non-alliance partners)
Singapore Airlines is part of Star Alliance, so you can earn KrisFlyer miles when flying on any Star Alliance carrier or one of Singapore’s many non-alliance partners.
- You’ll earn miles based on each partner’s earning chart.
- Singapore publishes separate award charts for Singapore-operated flights and partner flights.
- These charts make it easier to see how many miles you’ll earn and to identify potential sweet spots.
You can review the earning structure for each partner airline herehere.

How to Redeem Miles
You’ll get the most value from KrisFlyer miles by redeeming them for flights on Singapore Airlines. Singapore uses published award charts for redemptions on both its own flights and partner airlines. While there are some partner sweet spots, the best value is almost always on Singapore-operated flights, especially in premium cabins. Because Singapore rarely releases long-haul business or first class award seats to partners, KrisFlyer is the best place to book these cabins.
- Search tools: Award searches on the Singapore Airlines website or app are simple. You can view results by week (three days before and after your selected date) and filter by Singapore-only flights, Star Alliance partners, or non-alliance partners.
- Third-party search: PointsYeah also searches KrisFlyer live, giving you access to real, bookable award space and broader search filters.
Program changes: As of November 1, 2025, Singapore Airlines introduced several updates. This included slight devaluations and the launch of “Access Awards,” which open additional award space when saver awards are not available. These Access Awards follow dynamic pricing rather than the award chart. Here are the updated award charts:
- Singapore Airlines award chart
- Star Alliance award chart (priced round trip)
- Other partner charts

Booking Tips
Look for deals on the route you hope to fly or use this as inspiration for your next trip. Singapore Air publishes monthly promos that offer award flights at a discount. These are generally 20-30% less than the usual fares
Singapore Airlines has one of the most sought after first class products, the A380 Suite. You’ll see this redemption option on all the “best Singapore Airlines sweet spots” posts, but be aware these are notoriously difficult to book with awards
Since the U.S. is considered one zone, you can find some good sweet spots when flying from the far end of that zone. For example, all domestic flights in the U.S. are 14k. Not great for a LA to San Francisco redemption but quite good for a LA to New York redemption

Who is it best for?
If you’re looking for premium cabin international flights, it doesn’t get much better than what Singapore Airlines offers. KrisFlyer is often the only realistic way to book Singapore business or first class, since the airline rarely releases this space to partners. While award prices have increased in recent years, you can still find good value on certain routes, especially between the U.S. and Southeast Asia. You can also use their free stopover program to stretch your miles even further. Because Singapore uses a distance-based award chart for all flights, you’ll always know how many miles you need for a given route.
Although there are no co-branded credit cards available in the United States, KrisFlyer miles are easy to earn through transfers. Singapore partners with nearly every major credit card rewards program, including Amex, Chase, Citi, and Capital One, all at 1:1 ratios.
The biggest challenge is award availability. Saver-level premium cabin seats can be scarce, and highly sought-after products like the A380 Suite are famously difficult to book. Flexibility is key. You also need to watch for surcharges on some partner redemptions. For travelers who want to experience one of the world’s top airlines in business or first class, KrisFlyer remains a rewarding program worth mastering.
