Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

This card works best for those who fly Alaska regularly, particularly with a companion. The annual Global Companion Award alone can offset the $395 annual fee. The remaining perks add value and can make this a keeper for Alaska loyalists. One drawback is that the lounge passes are issued as two per quarter rather than all at once.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

The Atmos Summit is the airline’s premium card and a strong fit for loyal Alaska Airlines flyers who travel with the airline at least a couple times per year. The welcome offer includes 80,000 (current special 100,000) points and a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after spending $4,000 (currently $6,500) in the first 90 days. The $395 annual fee is also notably lower than the premium cards from American, Delta, and United.

The Global Companion Award differs from the Companion Fare offered by the Atmos Ascent. You’ll receive one as part of the welcome offer, plus a new one each year just for keeping the card, with no spending requirement. Cardholders who spend $60,000 annually earn an additional 100,000-point Global Companion Award. Certificates can be used on Alaska, Hawaiian, oneworld, and partner flights, and can be topped off with existing points. However, the certificate only works when the cardholder travels with another passenger.

The card also includes a strong set of perks:

  • 8 Alaska Lounge passes per year that can be shared with family and friends, issued as 2 passes per quarter
  • Free checked bag and preferred boarding for the cardholder and up to 6 companions on the same reservation
  • 10,000 elite qualifying points each account anniversary year, plus 1 elite qualifying point per $2 spent
  • Ability to share points with up to 10 additional Atmos Rewards members
  • $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck statement credit
  • $50 instant travel delay credit for flight cancellations or delays of 2+ hours
  • Waived same-day confirmed flight change fees on Alaska Airlines, worth up to $50
  • 3x points on Alaska, Hawaiian, dining, and foreign purchases
  • Complimentary Avis President’s Club, National Emerald Club Executive, and Hertz Gold Plus memberships
  • Through 2026, access to signature cocktails and a premium bar experience at Alaska Lounges when showing the card
  • 10% bonus on miles earned from card purchases when you also have an eligible Bank of America account

One unique feature of the Atmos Summit and Atmos Ascent is the ability to pay rent through Bilt and earn 3x Atmos points on rent payments up to $50,000 annually. A 3% fee applies, meaning you are effectively buying Atmos points for 1¢ each. Since we value Atmos points at 1.6¢ apiece, this can be a strong option for renters looking to build additional miles.

Another feature of this card is the ability to set up a points sharing group with up to 10 Atmos Rewards members. The cardmember sets up and manages the group, and each Atmos member can only be a part of one group at a time. All members of the group can share points with one another, with no minimum or maximum limits.

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

  • You don’t live in a city that has many Alaska Airlines flights to take advantage of its points
  • You travel alone so the Companion Fare is not a good perk for you
  • You don’t travel on Alaska enough, so the lower tier, Atmos Ascent card might be better for you

What to Know About Atmos Rewards

Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines have some great sweet spots, but understanding their award charts is key.

  • A key factor in their value is whether either airline flies from your home airport.
  • Alaska often has the best pricing available for international business class. Using an award search tool will help maximize.
  • Their award chart also allows for some great finds on short-haul domestic flights.
  • The one downfall of the program is that only Bilt and Marriott are transfer partners, making collecting points or topping up more difficult
  • One-way award tickets with a stopover allows you to visit two destinations for the price of one.

How The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Credit Card Fits In The Atmos Rewards Ecosystem

Atmos miles can be difficult to earn, since they do not partner with major rewards currencies outside of Bilt and Marriott. Alaska Airlines also offers two other co branded cards. The Atmos Ascent Visa Signature card (formerly the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature) is the only other personal co branded card. There is also a business version, the Atmos Rewards Visa Business card (formerly the Alaska Airlines Business card), which is comparable to the Ascent. It offers essentially the same signup bonus, benefits, and perks, so if you are up against 5/24, you may want to look into that card.

Both cards feature:

  • 60,000 point signup bonus
  • $99 Companion Fare
  • Free checked bag and preferred boarding (the same as the Summit card)
  • 20% rebate on onboard purchases
  • $100 off a Lounge+ membership

Key differences:

  • The business card requires $4,000 in spend within 90 days to earn the bonus, compared with $3,000 in 120 days for the Ascent.
  • The annual fee for the Ascent is $95. The business card charges $70 plus $25 per additional card.
