American Airlines Citi AAdvantage Globe Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

This card fills a need for the airline as a midrange option for those who fly on American Airlines regularly, but not more than 3 or 4 times per year. It has great first year value with a high 90,000 mile welcome offer (most likely elevated since the card came out in October 2025). The annual fee is $350, so right in the middle of other American card offerings. Whether or not you keep it after the first year depends on how much you value the four Admiral’s Club passes, $99 Companion Certificate, and other various perks and credits available with the card.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

This is a new, midrange card offered by American Airlines, and it’s good for those who fly American at least a few times per year but not more than that. It has a strong 60,000 points signup bonus after $5000 in purchases within the first 4 months. The annual fee is $350, and the card tries to offset that fee with a number of benefits and perks:

  • Four Admirals Club Globe Passes per calendar year (up to 3 children under 18 can accompany an adult on the same pass)
  • $99 Companion Certificate good for a single, round-trip main cabin domestic flight (cannot be used on basic economy fares)
  • First checked bag free for cardmember and up to 8 traveling companions
  • Preferred boarding for cardmember and up to 8 traveling companions
  • $120 credit every four years for Global Entry or TSA Precheck
  • Up to $100 in statement credits on your choice of up to two of the following brands:
    • 1st Dibs, eligible AA Hotels bookings, Future Personal Training, and Live Nation
  • Up to $240 back on Turo ($30 in statement credits for each eligible Turo trip up to 8 times per year)
  • Up to $100 back on inflight purchases
  • 3x miles on eligible American Airlines purchases, 6x miles on eligible hotel stays through AAdvantage Hotel bookings, 2x miles on restaurants, and 2x miles on eligible transit purchases
  • Earn 5000 Loyalty Points bonus after every 4 qualifying American Airlines flights (up to 15,000 additional Loyalty Points each status qualification year)

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

Here are some exceptions where the card might not be good for you:

  • You only fly American once per year, so a lower level card is better for you
  • You fly American more than 4-5 times per year so the Executive World Elite works better for you

What to Know About American Airlines Miles

American Airlines is a great utility point system.

  • Points are relatively easy to collect, though we don’t love the bank partners or transfer options as much.
  • We love direct flights, and American can be a good option for finding those with points.
  • Rewards flights start at 5,000 miles each way.
  • You can use AA miles to travel with eligible Oneworld partner airlines worldwide.

How The American Airlines Citi AAdvantage Globe Credit Card Fits In The American Airlines Miles Ecosystem

This card fills a necessary gap for American Airlines travelers. It’s the only midrange card available between the no-fee AAdvantage Mileup Card (which we don’t recommend), the $99 annual fee AAdvantage Platinum World Elite Mastercard, and the $595 annual fee AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard.

The Platinum is best for those who fly on American, but only once or twice per year. The $99 annual fee is waived the first year, and the signup bonus is a respectable 50,000 miles. You receive a free first checked bag and priority boarding, but no lounge access. The Executive card comes with a hefty $595 annual fee and a 70,000 mile signup bonus. It also has a host of benefits for those who travel with the airline regularly throughout the year, like full Admirals Club membership for the cardmember and his or her immediate family or up to 2 guests. There are also four different $120 credits (Lyft, Grubhub, Avis or Budget, and Global Entry/TSA Precheck). You also receive a free checked bag and priority boarding.
