JetBlue Premier Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

While this has the highest annual fee at $499, the sign-up bonus and $300 TrueBlue statement credit make this card worthwhile in the first year. Long-term value depends on how often you fly JetBlue and where you live. The 15% points rebate on award flights, 5,000 annual bonus points, and 25 annual bonus Tiles toward status add meaningful value for regular JetBlue flyers, particularly those on the East Coast.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

The JetBlue Premier card is the airline's premium offering, with the highest $499 annual fee. The 80,000 (current special 100,000)-point sign-up bonus can be earned after spending $5,000 (currently $5,000) on purchases within the first 90 days of card ownership.

The signup bonus and statement credit alone make this a great first-year card, but keeping it long term depends on how much value you can extract from all benefits:

  • $300 annual statement credit when booking through TrueBlue Travel, JetBlue's travel portal
  • 15% TrueBlue points rebate on all award bookings
  • 25 Tile Bonus each calendar year
    • You will not receive this bonus upon card issuance. You'll receive it after January 1, and then it will be a calendar year bonus every year you own the card
  • Complimentary Priority Pass Select membership for the cardmember and 1 guest, including access to Priority Pass restaurants, a benefit taken away from most credit cards in recent years
    • Cardmembers typically receive $28-$30 per person in food and drink credits at participating airport restaurants instead of visiting a lounge
    • The cardmember and any authorized user will also have access to JetBlue Bluehouse lounges, along with one guest, but it excludes Blue Basic fares
  • Free first checked bag for you and up to 3 additional travel companions on JetBlue operated flights
  • Group 3 boarding on JetBlue operated flights for up to 4 companions
  • 50% savings on inflight food and beverage purchases
  • A $120 credit towards TSA Precheck or Global Entry
  • 5,000 TrueBlue points each anniversary
  • 6x points on JetBlue and TrueBlue Travel purchases
  • 2x points at restaurants and grocery stores

Big spend bonuses

  • If you spend $15,000 on the card in a year, you'll receive a $500 companion pass statement credit
  • If you spend $75,000, you'll receive a $1,500 companion pass statement credit

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

Here are some situations where this card might not be suitable for you:

  • You don't fly JetBlue frequently enough or with companions, making the boarding and baggage benefits insufficient
  • You don't book enough travel through portals to utilize the $300 credit with TrueBlue Travel

What to Know About JetBlue TrueBlue

JetBlue is particularly attractive if you live in New York City and it’s a convenient hub to your frequent destinations.

  • More limited routes that all run through one hub make it a less attractive utility airline option than American or Southwest.
  • Points are relatively easy to collect with good transfer options and a nice airline. We just hate layovers.

How The JetBlue Premier Credit Card Fits In The JetBlue TrueBlue Ecosystem

The JetBlue Premier card is for those who live near JetBlue hubs and fly the airline regularly.

They offer three other card options:

  • JetBlue Plus Card ($99 annual fee) provides good value with:
    • 60,000 point sign-up bonus
    • Free checked bags for you and up to 3 additional companions
    • 5,000 anniversary points and 10% points back on redemptions
  • JetBlue Card: No annual fee
    • 10,000-point welcome bonus
    • 5,000 annual bonus points

For those concerned about 5/24 status, consider the JetBlue Business card, which mirrors the Plus card's benefits for those who qualify.
