American Airlines Massively Increasing Admirals Club Membership Cost

American Airlines is increasing the cost of Admirals Club memberships starting August 23, 2026, with annual prices jumping from roughly $700-$850 to $1,200-$1,400 depending on elite status. American will also eliminate household memberships, remove guest access from single memberships, and stop offering discounted renewal pricing. These changes make the Citi AAdvantage Executive Mastercard much more compelling for frequent Admirals Club visitors. Even after its annual fee increases to $695, the card will still include complimentary Admirals Club membership for far less than buying access directly, while also providing the card’s other travel and airline benefits. The Citi Strata Elite also includes four Admirals Club passes per year for cardholders who only need occasional access.

Earn Free Night Awards with New Hyatt Promo

World of Hyatt is offering a promotion where you can earn up to five Category 1-4 free night awards after completing qualifying stays in Latin America or the Caribbean. There are several parameters to this one, so be sure to read the details before making any plans. You must first register here by September 30, 2026. You'll earn one free night award for every three qualifying nights at participating hotels and resorts between January 1 and March 31, 2027, up to five free nights. The biggest catch is that all free night awards expire on June 20, 2027, so if you complete your stay toward the end of March, you'll have less than three months to use them. This is still a good promotion, especially if you already have a qualifying stay planned, but make sure you'll be able to use the free nights before they expire.

Citi AAdvantage Executive Mastercard Getting a Refresh and Higher Annual Fee

Citi and American Airlines are refreshing the AAdvantage Executive Mastercard on August 23, 2026, adding new statement credits, better earning rates, expanded Loyalty Point bonuses, and raising the annual fee from $595 to $695. New benefits include two $250 American Airlines Vacations credits each year, up to $100 back annually on eligible inflight and Admirals Club purchases, and up to $15 per month in Lyft credits after completing three eligible rides. Cardholders will also receive Omni Hotels Champion status, an annual Omni free night after a qualifying stay, and Avis President’s Club status. The card’s most important benefit, complimentary Admirals Club membership, remains intact and arguably becomes more valuable as American raises the standalone membership price from $850 to $1,400 per year. We’ll update the card page on August 23 with the full list of new benefits and the higher annual fee.

American Airlines Makes Business Class Upgrades More Difficult for Elites

Starting August 25, 2026, American Airlines will no longer allow complimentary upgrades of more than one cabin on domestic flights. That means elite members booked in economy can only be upgraded to premium economy, while those already booked in premium economy can be upgraded to business class. The change currently only affects routes with a premium economy cabin, primarily transcontinental flights and flights to and from Hawaii, so it won’t impact most domestic trips. Unfortunately, those are also some of American’s longest domestic routes, where a lie-flat business class upgrade is most valuable.

Targeted IHG Promo: Earn Up to 10 Bonus Elite Night Credits

August 12 update:
IHG now has a second targeted offer that has a higher cap of 10 bonus elite nights through September 30, 2026. This appears to be aimed at certain corporate customers, although we've seen data points where eligibility may be broader than the terms indicate. Here's a direct link to the registration page to check to see if you're targeted.

Original August 7 post:
IHG is targeting certain members with an offer to earn double elite night credits on eligible paid stays completed by September 29, 2026. There is a maximum of five bonus nights. Only qualifying paid stays of at least $30 before taxes and fees count, so award stays and Points + Cash bookings are excluded. Even if you aren't chasing status with IHG, the extra nights can help you reach Milestone Rewards, which begin at 20 elite nights and include options like bonus points, food and beverage credits, suite upgrades, and lounge access.
