World of Hyatt Credit Card Review

Key Takeaways

This is Hyatt’s only personal credit card, and it’s one of the easiest hotel cards to justify keeping long term. The $95 annual fee is easily offset if you use the annual free night certificate. Hyatt remains our favorite hotel loyalty program because of its strong redemption value, straightforward award pricing, and excellent partnership with Chase Ultimate Rewards. If you already stay at Hyatt properties or plan to transfer Chase points to Hyatt regularly, this card fits naturally into that strategy.

Why This Card Could Be Right For You

The signup bonus on the World of Hyatt card can be a little misleading at first glance. While you may see an advertised offer of up to 60,000 points, the bonus is split into two separate parts.

  • First bonus tier: Earn 30,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. Since Hyatt award nights start at just 3,000 points during off-peak pricing, those initial points alone can still go a long way.
  • Second bonus tier: Earn up to 30,000 additional points through elevated earning rates after spending up to $15,000 in the first 6 months.

We generally recommend stopping after the first spending requirement and moving on to another signup bonus, since $15,000 in spending can often generate more value elsewhere. However, spending $15,000 on the card in a calendar year also earns an additional free night certificate, which makes the extra spending more worthwhile in the first year.

Even if you don't spend to earn the full advertised offer, though, this card remains one of the best hotel cards to keep long term. The biggest reason is the annual free night certificate, valid at Category 1-4 Hyatt properties worldwide. That perk alone can easily offset the $95 annual fee. Cardmembers also receive automatic Discoverist status, complimentary DashPass membership, quarterly DoorDash credits, and Instacart+ benefits with monthly Instacart credits.

When The Usual Advice Doesn't Apply

This card may not be the best fit if:

  • You don’t stay at hotels and prefer rentals like Airbnb or VRBO.
  • You’re near the Chase 5/24 limit and might get better value from a different personal card or the Hyatt Business card.

What to Know About World of Hyatt

Hyatt is still our favorite hotel loyalty program.

  • Hyatt points still offer the best redemption value among hotel programs, even after the 2026 award chart changes.
  • The quality of Hyatt properties is consistently high, from lower-tier hotels to luxury resorts and all-inclusive brands.
  • Hyatt elite status and cardholder perks are straightforward, and Globalist offers the best high-end elite benefits among hotel programs.
  • Hyatt partners with Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt Rewards, making points easy to earn and transfer.
  • The biggest downside is Hyatt’s smaller footprint compared to Hilton, Marriott, or IHG.

How The World of Hyatt Credit Card Fits In The World of Hyatt Ecosystem

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is Hyatt’s only personal co-branded card and the strongest long-term option for most travelers because of its annual free night certificate and lower annual fee.

  • World of Hyatt Business Card: Hyatt also offers a business version with a $199 annual fee and a 60,000 point signup bonus. Unlike the personal card, though, it does not include an automatic annual free night certificate unless you spend $15,000 in a calendar year. Because of the higher fee and more limited long-term perks, we generally prefer the personal card as a keeper.
  • 5/24 strategy: The Hyatt Business card does not add to your 5/24 count, making it another way to earn Hyatt points without impacting future Chase personal card approvals.
  • Ultimate Rewards transfers: Hyatt is Chase’s best hotel transfer partner. Any Chase card earning Ultimate Rewards points can transfer directly to Hyatt, making it easy to top off your Hyatt balance for award stays.

My Experience, No Filter

As a father who travels with a family of five, I stay at Hyatt Place properties often. They can accommodate up to five people (two queens and a sofa sleeper) in a standard room, which is perfect for road trips or big city stays. We once redeemed 100,000 points for a New York stay that would have cost $4,055, netting roughly four cents per point in value. My wife and I have also used Hyatt points for a five-night stay at Secrets Impressions Moxché in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, an all-inclusive that costs well over $1,000 per night in cash, yet was only 28k points per night when we booked. There are countless possibilities with Hyatt points, so don’t overlook this card.
